Confessions of a Book Junkie

I offered an implied complaint last week, when I posted this picture of my itty bitty closet.

I must confess though, that my lack of clothes storage is not because we live in a small house...or because the house contains inadequate closet-space.

No, it's really because this:

And this:

And this:

And these:

Don't provide enough book storage for me, so I was forced to commandeer these spaces...which just happen to be our two largest closets:

So now you know. Hey, we all have our priorities.

Are there any that you haven't read yet?

Oh, definitely! Especially in that last photo. There are tons of historical fiction and biographies that I bought for my boys that I will probably never get around to reading.

Most every one has either been read by one of us or at least referenced by us more than once. Thankfully, I am not the only reader in the house. Grant & Eric both devour books and recently, Steve is joining in...and liking it too!

Ah, now I know who to hit up when I'm stuck about what to read next! =)

Many of the books I came away from High School and college with - a pretty good collection - ended up in the PCA library. Oh, well. For a good cause. And we just don't have the room!

Oooh...that kinda stinks about your books. Since a real library never materialized at PCA, many of those books were "gotten rid of"!! Hope none of them were yours!

I know you're probably kidding about borrowing...but that's one thing I sometimes feel guilty about. I'm not real generous when it comes to loaning books. Partly because there have been several that I have never gotten back...and half the time I forget to whom I loaned them, so then I have to buy them all over again! When people (especially other "kids" ask to borrow them, it's always really awkward for me...I consider this part of my children's inheritance, so it's a big deal to me.) I suggest using their local library, but sometimes I succumb... :-)

Lori,
Ellen was looking at your blog and is now making me feel guilty because we don't own enough books! She gets so upset if her brothers borrow a book that she hasn't touched for YEARS! I think she will be lining the walls of her home with literature. Thank you for inspiring her.

Have you ever read The Library by Sarah Stewart? It's a children's book, one of my favorite about Elizabeth Brown who starts a library with her book collection. She loans out her books, but then promptly goes to get them back. Very cute, very sweet.

"Elizabeth Brown was quiet and shy, Elizabeth Brown fell straight out of the sky" I think that's how it starts....
