Marquee Madness

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND:

...that if you're going to get sick, do it NOW.  Otherwise, you don't get no blessin.

...that all you healthy people skip mass this weekend.

I'm sick.

Then I suggest you get yourself on over to St. Catherine's and be blessed!

Wonder if they can heal me via a drive thru to save time.

As it turns out...I AM SICK!! Too sick to drive over and receive a blessing, that's for sure!

If they don't have a drive-thru option, they should! Gotta be sensitive to the needs of the people and keep up with the times.

Ok. I actually don't mind the anointing of the sick at all masses. I know that the priests will do housecalls for those unable to attend mass or for those who are sick at other times. I think there is a place for anointing the sick with oil in the congregation.

Jennifer, I don't have any problem with the anointing of the sick...it's obviously a biblical idea! But when I read this on the marquee, I envision all the people with hacking coughs, pneumonia, strep throat, stomach flu, etc., showing up at church to be anointed, so that 2 weeks later, when bacterial gestation is complete, all the previously healthy people now need another round of anointing...and on and on it goes in perpetuity!!

Just an attempt at humor on my part, not a criticism of the practice itself!
