Finding a Long Gray Hair

Finding a Long Gray Hair
by: Jane Kenyon

I scrub the long floorboards
in the kitchen, repeating
the motions of other women
who have lived in this house.
And when I find a long gray hair
floating in the pail,
I feel my life added to theirs.

I like this poem. I liked the other one that you posted of hers, too. Does she have a book of poetry or something?

Sorry...for some reason I never saw this comment until now! Hopefully, my recent post about her answered your question. I read her Collection, which gathers poems from all of her books. It was a nice, large sampling and I recommend it!
