Now, Philadelphia Chickens, I can comment on that. We dig it at our house, too! I'll have to check out some of the others you mention. Thanks for the list.

Rhonda H turned us on to Gunnar Madsen and he is a hoot! Several of the others are old folksy tunes done by great artists. I wonder if the library has any of these?

I read your post this morning and now I can't get "my parents named me tuna fish" out of my head... thanks a lot! I do wish Madsen would come out with another children's album, but have you heard? The Boyntons have a new one called "Blue Moo: 17 Jukebox Hits from Way Back Never." Brian Wilson sings "Speed Turtle," BB King "One Shoe Blues," and many others. Sounds like fun. Do you have her "Dog Train" album? Just recently I bought 2 songs from i-tunes - Pots & Pans by the Bacon Brothers is a riot. Move over Elton John! The other is Don't Give Me That Brocolli.
Also, while I have you...do you have Madsen's other CD's? I only have the two I mentioned, but just learned yesterday that he has others. If you have them, do you recommend them...are they as good as the others?
I have to tell you, we played "Old Mr. Mackle Hackle" to death on the 5th grade trip to Williamsburg last year. The kids loved it and had the songs memorized by the time we got home. We ended our year by singing along (loudly!) with "Everybody's happy, 'cause Summertime is finally here!"

I would have loved to join the 5th grade group Mackle Hackle Jamboree. Sounds like a fun trip!
Dog Train - I have it and I'll bring it to choir Wednesday night...you can borrow. My favorites are "Sneakers" (my old sneakers are friends of mine, you can't trust any shoes that shine) and I love "Evermore" sung by Alison Kraus, such a sweet song and voice. I also like "Dog Train" (kittycats are not allowed...that would be a cat-astrophe. Ha!) It's at this point that I COULD say something rude about how you might not appreciate the song "Dog Train" because of your well-documented animosity toward canines. However, because I am such a fine Christian, I refrain.
Madsen - he only has two children's albums, but I've listened to "Spinning World: 13 Ways of Looking at a Waltz." I like it. You can hear samples and read the reviews at Amazon. I've listened to samples from "The Power of a Hat" and don't care for it.
