Ah...someone else doesn't like to be publicly wrong! It's OK, B...I understand. :)

Actually, I don't think there really is a "grammatical" problem with the pronouns. The verbs are different for each pronoun. We "will be ruled," but someone else can "choose." This happened all the time in my house growing up. My dad (singular) got to choose how we (plural...his children) were to be ruled. No grammatical issue.

I don't know about the grammar, but I question why we say "Biblical principles" when we should mean *Jesus.* I suppose there is a desire to eliminate the option of "via the Pope" or something, but still seems way too impersonal.

Maybe I'm too simple... I read that and understand them to be saying exactly what I've seen in some church leadership. Those who become prideful in their position, turn into a tyrant who equates their opinion with that of God's authority, becoming spiritually abusive to those under them. Those in that local body either follow the leader, or Biblical authority (God). The two (the tyrant and God) will not agree in the prideful leader's determination to be obeyed.

Interesting take, Tricia. I certainly read it as a political statement (based on the tone and content of previous signs).

Mark...really now. That would be over-the-top freaky to say "ruled by JESUS"!!

It's much more comfortable to talk about principles and doctrine and Christianity without confusing the whole thing with that Jesus-stuff.
