I love words...for a host of reasons. If you've followed my blog from the beginning, then you've been subjected to my fascination with words already and it should come as no great surprise that I have decided to dedicate all Wednesday posts to words! So, here we go!
Root:
acer - (Latin) adj: sharp or fierce
Derivatives:
acerbic and acrimonious - harsh in temper, tone or words
acrid - sharp to the taste or smell; pungent; caustic
exacerbate - to make worse; to irritate; to make bitter
OK, boys and girls, can you use one of these in a sentence? Send me your examples!

As the acrid taste of burnt chili filled George's nostrils he was sorely tempted to make an acrimonious remark about Sheila's cooking skills; yet he knew such comments would only exacerbate Sheila's own frustration over the failed dinner--not to mention that he might end up with a bowl of hot chili flung at his head.
Love it! I had a feeling some overacheiver might attempt to use them all in ONE!! Should've known it would be YOU, Angie! (I did the same thing mentally...!) Thanks for participating.
Now, everybody else...don't be intimidated by Angie! It's OK if you only choose 1 of the words!
Angie's is great! Here's one:
I acerbically exacerbated the acridity of your post by participating here. (Minimalism)
From the overachiever to the underachiever...I couldn't have written the script any better myself!
Overachiever--or someone with too much time on her hands?
I love summer.
Lauri decided to exacerbate the value of her blog by dedicating Wednesdays to words!
Just kidding. It sounds like a great idea and I'm looking forward to learning more words and how to use them!
Lori, Underachiever! Great, I reached my intended goal without breaking a sweat.
Well, Bobber. You can start by learning MY NAME...then move on to the vocab. You can call me LORI...most people do. :-) See, without that smiley face, you would have thought my remarks were caustic...or acrid, as we like to say around htre!
Our current President stumbled once again today in his response and remarks with regards to the current conflict within the country of Iran. He seems to be afraid to say anything that may be construed as acrimonious. Meanwhile the government of Iran continues with great resolve to exacerbate their people with the use of batons, guns, and the acrid smell of tear gas.
