Nutcracker

I have yet to see a performance of the ballet based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffman, but I have read the book aloud to my boys 3 times!  The first time I read it to them, I thought it was extremely bizarre, but the boys LOVED it!  Thus the multiple readings.

Roberto Innocenti's illustrations are equal to the whimsy of the tale.

Just saw the Nutcracker at the Touhill on Saturday. It was great. Would love to see/hear a performance of the Harlem Nutcracker by Duke Ellington. Little taste in this clip with Leonard Slatkin & Wynton Marsalis:

OK, I'll leave your blog alone now ;-)

No! No! Please keep coming and keep providing awesome links!!

I am not familiar enough with the music of the ballet to "get" what was happening in that clip...but it led me to the Ellington version of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" which I HAVE heard. Love it. Thanks, Chris!
