30 in 30: Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry Shortcake

Slice Sister Schubert's rolls in half (one whole roll for every 2 shortcake servings).  Soak each piece in melted butter, then dredge in granulated sugar.

Bake slices at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, then broil for an additional 3-4, until golden brown.

Whip heavy cream & Splenda until fairly stiff - 1/2 c. cream and 1-2 T. Splenda per serving.

If strawberries are not especially sweet, I douse them with Splenda about 30 minutes before serving.

To serve: place shortbread on serving dish; throw on a hefty glob of whipped cream; smother with fresh strawberries!

Happy summer eating!

What I'd like to know is how your family stays so thin with a cook like you in the house. These all look wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
Oh! And I think the Sister Shubert company should pay you for all this great advertising!

Well, Donna. There's not a single member of my family who would eat this. Or many of these! Plus, I don't cook like this every day anymore. I used to, but I was about 40 lbs. heavier then too! :-)

Yeah...maybe they should! Although I suspect that my little blog posts have not exactly generated any significant profit for them!
